                          Recycled Crayons!!!

Directions:
Collect the crayons bits and broken crayons that your children don't use anymore and put them all in a large bowl. Go through the bowl and make sure none of the crayons still have the paper coverings on them. You should also break any crayons that are larger than half of a full-sized crayon.

Place a cupcake liner into each opening of a muffin tin and then fill each paper cup about ..." full with broken crayons. Once you've filled the muffin pan, place it in the oven set to 130 degrees Fahrenheit. Leave the crayons in the oven until they are completely melted, which should take approximately 15 minutes, but you should check it regularly.

Once the crayons have melted, remove the muffin tin and place it in the freezer. Leave it in the freezer until they melted crayons are completely cooled. Then you can peel off the paper and use the crayons.

                                  "The Edible Birdfeeder"

I had forgotten about this one and it's so simple to do...
You will need a few pine cones, peanut butter, bird seed and string.  Does this sound familiar to anyone?
Smother the pine cones with the peanut butter than roll the pine cones in the bird seed. There you have it, ready to hang around your yard from any trees or porch.

Personal Air Conditioning for the hot summer days of play.

 What you'll need

  • 3 feet of Plastic Lanyard
  • Ice Cube Tray (ours had 14 cube slots)
  • Plastic Beads, Buttons, and/or Colored Plastic Drinking Straws cut into 1-inch lengths
  • Clear Tape

How to make it

  1. Ice Cube Necklace - Step 1Tie a knot in one end of the lanyard. Count the number of ice cube slots in one side of the tray and thread at least 1 bead, button, or straw per cube slot onto the lanyard (larger beads and such work best since they stay in the middle of the cube). Knot the other end of the lanyard when you're done.
  2. Center the lanyard over 1 row of an empty ice tray so that several inches drape over each end. Push the beads, buttons, or straws down into each ice cube slot. To keep the beads submerged when you add water, tape the lanyard to the edge of the tray and between each cube, as shown above.

Use a small pitcher to fill the slots with water. To avoid ice "bridges" between the cubes, don't overfill. Place the tray in the freezer and remove it when the ice is solid. Pop out the necklace, tie it on, then step outdoors to chill in style.

Cute Desk idea but not sure whether it could withstand a very active child.
 What you'll need
  • Large cardboard box
  • Scissors
  • Pencil
  • Assorted cereal, cookie, and pasta boxes
  • Colored tape
  • Glue
  • Clear Con-Tact paper

How to make it:

  1. With the scissors, cut the flaps off of the large cardboard box. Turn the box bottom up. Then, make an opening for your child's legs by drawing an arch on one of the longer sides and cutting it out. Using the cutout as a pattern, cut an identical shape from the opposite side of the box. Discard both pieces.
  2. Next, cut the tops from all of the food boxes and remove the inner wrappers. Attach the deeper boxes to the sides of the desk with short pieces of tape. Then, wrap longer pieces of tape all the way around the desk and side pockets to firmly secure them.
  3. For pencil holders and other desktop compartments, arrange smaller cartons and canisters along the back edge of the box and secure them by gluing the bottoms to the top of the desk.
  4. Lastly, make the working surface spillproof by covering it with clear Con-Tact Paper.

                 "Play Clay from Dryer Lint"

You can make modeling clay from dryer lint pretty easily. You probably have everything to make it in your home right this minute, unless tomorrow is your laundry day.

Materials:
  • 3 cups dryer lint
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/8 teaspoon of vegetable oil
Instructions:
Add to a saucepan and stir over medium heat until the mixture is smooth. It will bind together. Cool and use to make ornaments using candy or soap molds, or make free form sculptures. Allow to dry for one week and then paint.
